PAP announces the passing of its member, Hon. Paul Bie Eyene

The Pan-African Parliament (PAP) is saddened by the passing of Hon. Paul Bie EYENE, a national of the Republic of Gabon who had been serving as a member of the PAP since May 2016. Hon. Bie Eyene succumbed to a brief illness on 26 January 2021.

In its condolence message, the Bureau of the PAP has described his sudden demise as a blow to his beloved Gabon and the African continent.

“Hon. Bie Eyene played an instrumental role in advancing the African agenda during his tenure at the PAP. As a member of the Committee on Cooperation, he helped craft some of the most critical resolutions undertaken by the PAP, especially in the areas of peace building and conflict resolution in Africa. His voice will be dearly missed in the political discourse of both his country and at continental level,” says Hon. Djamel Bouras, Acting President of the PAP.

The PAP Bureau has extended, on behalf of Parliamentarians and the Secretariat, its condolences to the family, the National Assembly of Gabon and the Central African Regional Caucus of the PAP.

Hon. Bie Eyene was born in 1951 and is survived by his wife and children. The Parliament flags will fly at half-mast for the duration of the mourning period.  May his soul rest in eternal peace.
